Life in SunTec (2000-2004)

SunTec Business Solutions Pvt. Limited (http://www.suntecgroup.com) is an SEI CMM Level 5 company based in Technopark (http://www.technopark.org), Trivandrum, India. SunTec offers Convergent Transaction Billing solutions with its ace products TBMS™ and ARE™. SunTec offers relationship based pricing solutions for the financial service as well as telecommunication industry across wireless, cable & broadband, wire line and ISP verticals.  SunTec operates worldwide, and is a major presence in the telecom sectors in Europe, Asia Pacific and India. To provide end-to-end service to customers, SunTec has strategic tie-ups with major system integrators like Logica, Unisys and Tata Infotech and Shobha Renaissance IT

 

I joined as Project Leader in SunTec in December 2000. One of my initial responsibilities was to manage a team of people who were involved in developing the web enabled version of the huge product TBMS. At one time the team size was about 17. I was also a member of the product architecture team. I learn the basics of Project Management and its application to IT industry from SunTec. I was able to apply some of the lessons I learned from FACT in my day to day activities in SunTec. I picked up the expertise in J2EE from SunTec.

 

I also learned the formal quality compliance of software from SunTec. On this I became more quality conscious. I was trained on Internal Quality Audits and ISO procedures. I was promoted as a Project Manager in Feb 2003. I was responsible for several challenging projects in SunTec. These projects gave me more exposure to the internals of J2EE and Web services.

 

Life in SunTec and Trivandrum was very exciting. Challenging work environment and very good colleagues added to my excitement.

 

I resigned from SunTec in Feb 2004 to take up the opportunity with Tarang Software Technologies in Bangalore.
